by on March 2, 2010 · 24 comments

Somebody wrote something about you in this blog here [link]. I am still receiving this Twitter phishing DMs from some people I am following, it has a link that takes you to a page which you ask for your password, so plz check your Twitter messages if you are sending this message then change your password immediately, I am tired of messaging people about it, so I decided to write this fast post and tweet it to everybody.

Change your Twitter Password immediately

Also you can retweet this post to tell all your followers about this phishing DMs and ask them to check their accounts and change their passwords before they got infected.

I have no idea why and how this keep happening all the time! I mean where is Twitter security from all of this, this is the second Twitter attack in the last 2 weeks that I know

Your have a small problem.

Hesham March 3, 2010 at 5:08 am

I see that your site is down, but it seem a little problem on the code!

I am not sure if this related to this post topic, is it?

Reply

Ronald Redito March 3, 2010 at 2:04 pm

I think it is related. It might be the result of these untrusted links on twitter.

I am not really a techie guy and I don’t understand these codes but how did it happen that now if you access my main site, it says that there is Virus/trojan.

I am really pissed off. How can I get my site back to normal? Can anyone help?

Thanks.

No program is secure. You will get spam and phishing. It is sad that people ruin the experience by doing this. However, public announcements like this are great.

By the way… never reply to DMs that are suspicious…and those URL sites that reveal short URLs, ignore. Treat suspicious messages like spam and delete immediately.

Just changed my password. I’ve gotten three of these phishing DMs. Beware of DMs from ANYONE that says the following:

1. Is this you? [link]
2. Someone wrote something about you here [link]

Those were the two DMs I’ve gotten so far. Just a heads up!

There’s no way i could possibly delete them all, in fact, i don’t even use Twitter’s DM system for this reason. I wish i could let people know this but there is limited space in the bio. I’ll definitely tweet this out though.

Yes, I’ve been receiving these annoying DMs as well – it’s like the third or fouth time in a week. I’ve warned a few people about the DMs that were coming from their account, but now I’m worried about weather or not some of my followers are receiving these types of messages from me. It would be totally embarrassing!
