Everybody says this, and it sounds great in theory. What I've always wondered is, how do you solve the chicken-and-egg problem with a brand new website? i.e. 1. I build a new website and put lots of quality content on it, hoping to attract links, but... 2. Since I haven't got any links, I don't get a high Google ranking - so... 3. Nobody reads my content to find out they would want to link to it, and... 4. I never get any backlinks. Return to Step 2 and repeat :-) ??? “Writing quality content will automatically get backlinks without you even raising a finger.”

Everybody says this, and it sounds great in theory. What I’ve always wondered is, how do you solve the chicken-and-egg problem with a brand new website? i.e.

Relevance trumps everything else in my book. Then again, I'm not solely after the bakclinks for search engines, I want traffic.
