Leon Håland of Altibox has created an awesome graph to show the amazing growth of Google+ and how they reached 20 million users in almost no time compared with Facebook and Twitter who took years to reach the same number or members.

My opinion is Google was already having a huge member base that helped them to grow amazingly by switching a few buttons on. Most of us were on the Google Plus social network already, but we just didn’t knew about it!
Earlier yesterday, techcrunch.com published Leon’s first graph that show Google+ 10 million users.

I think that it is early to see if Google+ will make it. It’s also a factor of how people will react on the features it has to offer. And then offcourse, how will spammers see use in this? Everytime a network of this kind emerges spammers find a way to misuse it. Google+ could die because of that if not handled properly.

Wow that’s realy amazing, I wonder how much money the google owner earns in a year time
courtney stodden September 15, 2011 at 3:16 pm
I’m not entirely shocked though. I feel like there was a lot more hype about Google+ than Facebook and Twitter.

It’s far too early to tell if Google+ is going to emerge as a real competitor to Facebook, which has over 700 million users, since early Google+ users are still mainly geeks and industry insiders. But there are Google+ features that I like, especially Circles. I can’t imagine why Facebook didn’t add this capability long ago.
Barrie August 16, 2011 at 7:24 am
Well it kind of helped that they had a brand name to begin with, but now the real test is to see if Google+ can overtake Facebook in that and other important categories.

By just looking at the number of days for G+ to hit 20 million users… That’s some jaw dropping moments..

Google+ is a real big deal in FB. Also, joining by Mark Zuckerberg in Google+ help it rapidly boost more audience. I think it will be also a big help in a site since it is made by Google so take the opportunity.

This is not surprising since Google actively pushed there product through there various other programs. One be reason Chrome took off was it was displayed prominently on the Google search page. Although Google reached those numbers I’m not sure how many are actively using it as a social network. I’m from an IT company and I know many of my friends joined just to check what it is about, but many are not leaving Facebook, at least not yet.

20 million users in just 24 days, its amazing. I think all credit goes to the brand value of Google.

That’s true, plus they have made good features for the network, not many, but useful ones!

Wow. This REALLY puts things in perspective, doesn’t it? I wasn’t so sure about Google+ when I first received my invite at the roll-out. But its been amazing to watch it skyrocket like it has, and this graphic really shows you what’s going on.
Hesham July 25, 2011 at 1:49 pm
I remember people were dying to get an invitation
Thanks for stopping by Greg

The stats are no surprise…anything launched by Google turns out to be big. But any tips to increase number of people in your circles on G+
I need guidance friends.
Hesham July 24, 2011 at 3:18 pm
I would prefer if you use your name instead of “Graphic Design”!
To increase people in your circles, just invite them, and to increase people who add you to their circles, just share good stuff!
John D July 24, 2011 at 2:08 pm
Wow that’s an amazing graph, I wonder how well its “exclusive” invite feature worked to its benefit of making everyone want in.

Hi John,
I think the exclusivity here doesn’t mean a lot to Google, I think it’s more towards avoiding technical issues with servers as they already know there will be huge amount of people who will jump into the network!
Budi July 24, 2011 at 8:25 am
LOL. I really surprised that Google+ reach this amount of users only in 24days.
Maybe because Google already had name for years, so it was quite easy to get users. Beside, Google+ offers a new way to organize your connections, and the other hand, Facebook and Twitter seems to be stuck, there’s no something new they can offer.
Hesham July 24, 2011 at 11:41 am
Hi Budi,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, much appreciated
Brian Yang July 23, 2011 at 10:11 pm
I’m actually not surprised that it grew this quickly. During Google+’s launch, there was a lot of buzz around the web about it and its 2011. More people are online using social networks. And plus, this is GOOGLE.
Back in 2004 with Facebook, it was initially limited to certain schools and not as many people were online back then.
Google+ has a lot of potential and I’m interested in seeing how well it is received by users after several months.

Yes Brian, the launch was really insane, and it show how Google plan their projects very well! And yes Facebook is a whole different story, it was just an idea for a particular reason that turned to be a making money machine
Thanks for your input and time!
Brian D. Hawkins July 23, 2011 at 9:04 pm
As long as Google+ keeps the annoying apps and event requests off I’ll be a huge fan. Imagine how fast they’ll grow once business pages begin to explode.

mm.. not sure, but I think Google used the invitations not to break down it’s servers!
Brittany P Rubinstein July 23, 2011 at 3:08 pm
That is pretty impressive. I’m not entirely shocked though. I feel like there was a lot more hype about Google+ than Facebook and Twitter. I also think people are more in tune with social media than they were when those sites launched. I’m curious to see how long it will retain that speed of growth.
