Google Plus Games and The Battle of Game Developers

by on August 11, 2011 · 19 comments

Many people were expecting the Google Plus Games to go live after launching the new Google+ Social Network. Well.. It’s already there, however there are no specific details shared on their plans about incorporating games into Google Plus.

Google Plus Games won’t be annoying!

It’s clear that Google wants to put everything on it’s place, so when you get an update from a Google Plus Game, it won’t bother you by popping on your main stream page, which is really cool! But where it will show?

Here is a quote from Google help pages:

When you post an update from a game, it won’t show up in the stream on the Google+ home page. On your Games page, visit the Games stream to see a list of game updates shared with you in Google+.

You can interact with posts just as you would from your stream on the Google+ homepage. For example, you can comment on, mute, and reshare posts.

This is just great, I hope Google will learn from the competition with Facebook! So expect to see the new icon in the G+ navigation soon!

G+ Games and The Battle of Game Developers

I see a huge opportunity for game developers, there will be a big competition and many people will make big money soon.

I’ve read this today on ReadWriteWeb.com:

“The battle for game developer attention is likely to be heated. Tricia Duryee reported late last month at All Things D that multiple sources told her Google would try to undercut Facebook by charging developers a lower fee for things like in-app sales”.

Update:

Just saw the Google Plus Games tab on my G+profile:

I’ve like this information I think that google will be the next competitor of facebook o though I own an internet caffe, and 90% of users are hooked in facebook so not sure how far will google go.

I can’t emphasize enough the potential impact this will have on the way we experience games.
I remember Sid Meier was working on a version of his award-winning game “Civilization” for facebook; however this was never released, as far as I know.

As the power and ability of computers increases and the speed of transfer of information skyrockets, these little “games” on Google+ will lead us to an incredible revolution of worldwide game-playing. We’re starting to see a small glimpse of the amazing future of gaming.

Its great to see google + having the games feature !! To me, the games in google+ seem to run more smoothly than in Facebook ! Although there are few games here but I am sure eventually they will have awesome games there!

Well said buddy. A battle will it be. Just recently after Google+ announced that they are rolling out the games on G+, FaceBook announced yet another new game, so I guess this will continue on for a while. Would be very interesting to see how this “ping-pong” of new features will play. One thing is for sure, it is good for us users. The more they battle, the better (hopefully) will users benefit from it.

This could change the way people use Facebook, if by any chance people get addicted to G+ games, there might be a chance that Facebook will loose some of it users.

Google+ will have games too? Cool! Too bad only a handful of my friends have an account with Google+. Having a separate stream for Game Updates is such a great idea! My other expectation is for Google+ to filter all these spam links especially those that come with a virus.

Google+ has done tremendous job in 1 month and seems like it’s going to appeal m any of those 200 millions active gamer on Facebook. Specially teaming up with Zyngia is going to give great boost to Google+ games. Still waiting for Games tab to appear on my profile..Seems like it’s going to take some time before Google+ will roll out this for everyone.
