Google has Acquired Zagat the Most Influential and Trusted Consumer Reviews

by on September 9, 2011 · 9 comments

Google is rocking the online business world everyday with inspiring stuff, well.. Google is actually the business! Google increased their influence Thursday when they purchased Zagat and jumped into a large niche web market.

Zagat is popular dining recommendations and ratings authority, the most influence and trusted consumer reviews, Zagat actually polls consumers and compiles reviews about restaurants around the world, Zagat was founded more than 32 years ago.

Today, Zagat provides people with a democratized, authentic and comprehensive view of where to eat, drink, stay, shop and play worldwide based on millions of reviews and ratings. Source: Google Blog.

And..

Google needs reviews and other content for its “Google Places” websites, in part to fend off criticism. It has been accused of using comments from review sites such as Yelp, essentially siphoning off their readers and, more importantly, their clicks. Google has toned down its borrowing of comments recently, Fitz said. Source: msn.com

We all know that you can find stuff online by searching Google, but now Google will tell you..

Where, What, and probably “When” to eat your best meals!

Oh Google, what is it that you can not do?!

With this speed, I think Google will own many of major online business. I checked out other sites to know the details of the deal but its not mentioned anywhere.
With Zagat, people will have some good user experiences on Places.

And Google continues to take over the world! Seriously I’ve never known a company who has made so many acquisitions, they just seem to buy anyone and everyone

Google is getting more and aggressive :) From search, social media, to review guide now. Not sure if it is a good or bad thing.

Thanks for sharing the news!

Cheers,
Ming

Sounds like another step in Googles plan to dominate the world.

I, for one, welcome out new Google overlords.

Yes, and it seems that Google is getting more control over decision making, not really good!
