Don’t BlogEngage your MMO Stories

social networks

Maybe you will find this title strange in the meaning, but don’t get me wrong! I am a BlogEngage proud member, but there is a nice story happened to me and I wanted to share with you since long time back, it’s a nice social networking story, it’s just that some times we feel to forget and hide our old history, specially if you are not proud of it, and prefer only to share our success, which is not making any since for me, I mean no one is perfect! in other words, success always comes after fail, so why I will share my success story and hide the real cool fail stories that we learn from them?! I am going also to tell how how I turned the fail to a success!

Don’t Digg A Page to Mixx

I remember when I first started blogging and joined social networks, I was trying everything possible way to promote my blogs, at this time my information about how to promote your blog using Social Networks was zero, nada!

I created a new blog and I was posting short kind of post with a link to other blogs, each post has only one link to the original post, and guy I did a horrible mistake! I was submitting this posts to Mixx, I was doing it like 4 to 10 times a day!

This is a Spammer.. Kill him!

The first time I knew about the word “Spammer” was when a member of Mixx community reported one of my submissions and I got a nice threaten email from Mixx team telling me that someone reported my submission as a blogspam, and if they continue receiving reporting they will have no choice but blocking my account.

I was shocked, and I started to ask myself what is “BlogSpam”, is doesn’t sound good! Is it a disease and I should to visit my doctor? What’s wrong with you people? Explain to me my mistake.. PLZ!

Damn! I was so worried about not to get banned from Mixx because I was getting great traffic, I was spammer you know LOL!

Then other members started to say “Stop Blind Voting”, you have to check what you are voting for before you hit the damn voting buttons, and stuff like that! And this action caused my spammy submission to show on the main page of Mixx that day! And I was getting more and more traffic! Everybody want to know who is this “Spammer” you know :)

My reaction!

I was thinking the whole day what to do to stop this voices says “ban him”, “Kill him”! And I knew that I must act and do something to stop this! or I will lose respect for ever.. then I decided to write a post to apologies and I publish it on MyLifeThinking blog says don’t submit a digg page to mixx, and I submit it to Mixx to tell everybody that I was stupid, and I don’t know what I was doing, but now after the long discussion we had I want to thank people who explained to me! I didn’t care too much after that for this spammy blog of mine, I removed recently and all it’s posts! I even got some awards from the community, check out my Mixx trophy case of awards :)

mixx_awardsI just wanted you to share this story for two reasons!

  1. If you new to social networks then want to advise you not to get involved in such kind of mistakes and stop spamming if you are doing it, never submit pages on social networks to another social network! it will not take you to any good place, you are the one who will lose at the end!
  2. I think sharing your fail stories is important as sharing your success, we heard lots of success stories, but we want to know what was before the success! so don’t be shy to share your fail stories for others to learn from them.

Why this post Title?

I will go back to my post title and say to all my friends, bloggers and readers I am only active now on BlogEngage and MMO Social Network and I would like always to see valuable content and useful read on them, and this is a message to everybody, plz read the About pages of any website or blog you visit, try to know what it is about before you submit something to it, this is the best way to participate and get benefits for your self and for others! and Oh! don’t BlogEngage your MMO Stories :)

Now it’s your turn!

I have shared a story of mine with you, now it’s your turn, I am sure there were something interesting, strange, weird or funny happen to you in the beginning of the beginnings of your blogging life and social networking hang outs! Share something with us, let’s make this post valuable!

Hesham,

This information is good to know. I never really thought about this. Generally Submit my posts/stores to different Social Media sites, but I always submit my original story. I thought thought it was a bit lazy to submit BE story to MMO. Besides, from an SEO and google point of veiw this would be considered duplicate information. When submitt a new story, I try and always change the tittle up a little and create a new description.

A lesson well learned.

I had a similar bad experience with Sphinn all over a well known blog directory not passing Pagerank. ( I was ranked even though I was argued with should read I was right.)

I made the mistake of submitting the story to Sphinn, which resulted in many of the supporters of that directory calling me some nasty names and even suggesting Sphinn needed a Dumba$$ button (pardon my language) for posts like mine.

One member of Sphinn even wrote a blog post about me that is still up to this day- 3 years years later and can be found via Google. That blog post still has people who don’t even know me calling me names.

Aww, social networking can sometimes be a lovely experience- (Sarcasm)

BlogEngage and MMO Social Network are interesting blogger community, but two of them have a big different, if BlogEngage for general topic but MMO Social Network is for Making Money Online :)
So we must see the missions, BlogEngage to engage with blogger from many different niche but MMO Social Network is only blogger who wants to making money online. In the future I think we must socialize that MMO Social Network is for Making Money Online business, what do you think?

I never did it – normally use the original link to my posts if I ever want to submit them to the social networks. But again, I don’t do it very often too :[

Hey Hesham,
It was a great idea to write this post and clear up some confusions. If you plan to prepare some special guidelines or FAQ page, I am more than willing to give you a hand. Just send me an email and we can set aside some time.

Bottom line – submit the original blog post link to bookmarking sites and social networks and only use the story page links (from MMOSocialNetwork or Blog Engage) on Twitter or FaceBook.

Submit posts about blogging in general – including MMO posts to Blog Engage and only submit MMO articles or very closely related to MMO to MMOSocialNetwork. Choose your categories carefully no matter where you submit!

I know these points were stated before, but I wanted to have them all in one place. Hopefully I got it right so that this can

Cheers!

Great idea, I love cooperation :)

We have to understand the difference between “Bookmark” and “Share”, I can bookmark to a bookmark website!

I just need to correct one point if I you allow me, I think it’s OK to share those links to Facebook & twitter only as a way to drive more benefits to my friends, why I say that? because I refer my friends to the bookmark website where they will find more related stories like the one I share which give promotion to bookmark website as well! (sharing on Twitter & Facebook is not bookmarking)!

I will drop you an email very soon!

Possibly along the same lines, I wonder how people feel about the new wave of sharing Digg pages through StumbleUpon. Sometimes I’m a little to quick with my I Like It button, and I inadvertently Stumble a page that is straight from a Digg bar – the share was just sent so I could Digg the post instead of Stumble it. It has been more prevalent since Digg turned off the shouting feature…

Nice post friend.. I think both blogengage and MMO are good social networks to share our articles. As karl said we submit articles in both.. This will be more effective. I like to use both networks…

Hi Hesham. This is a great story and one that should be read and learned by everyone. I think that the point here is to avoid “mixxing” blog posts that are not relevant to the networks topic. While BlogEngage is more “General”, MMO is just that, a more specific topic related to the MMO niche. The problem I think is that many can get confused as to what the MMO niche can be related to. For example, if I write a blog post about “Traffic”, this can be both general (a blogging tip) and at the same time, MMO related, as no traffic = no money. At the end of the day, what I believe you are saying is “not” to submit a link from “BlogEngage” to “MMO Social Netwrok” but rather treat it as a different submission, i.e., from the original source, right?

Yes Ditesco, always submitting the original story and of course related to the network you are submitting to! I have got some members at MMO submitting poem and love stories that has nothing to do with MMO :)

mmm.. I think we need more promotion and guides for the MMO!

I am confused Hesham, I submit my articles to multiple sources sometimes (not always) but I submit EVERY article to Blog Engage because I get a lot of traffic from them. Are you saying if I submit to BE, I shouldn’t submit to MMO? Why? What about Stumble, Digg, etc…

I guess my thinking is to get your articles out there where they might possibly go viral, and to do that they need to be visible in multiple places.

Maybe this is just a Mixx problem?

I may be wrong but I think this is more to do with submitting a BlogEngage story page to MMO and vice versa instead of the original ’story page’ which would be found on your blog.

This was a very interesting read Hesham. A ‘fail’ story always shows the human side to someone especially when they identify how they failed, why they failed and what they did to change the ‘fail’ situation.

Thanks for sharing,
