Where should I start? Well… It’s been a while back since I wrote a post titled Famous Bloggers Club The Challenge this was my first post here on FamousBloggers, this seems a very long time ago, the blog came a long way with over 7 thousand comments, lots of authors and over two hundred articles, it is fair to say Hesham has risen to the challenge head on credit to him for having such business plan for blogging.
Managing a blog has never been easy especially when you have dreams and the desire to succeed, and of course we are talking here about making money from blogging, and like any business, you must have a business plan for blogging. There are two basics i believe every blogger should have in order to take business to the next level and achieved his/her goals, here are the two must have as I could imagine them:
(1) Business Plan
Yes, we need to have a business plan, there is an old saying “If you failed to plan, then you plan to fail” this is an old quote to which we can implement in our every day lives, having said that, your plan can be broken into smaller areas like the how, when, where and why sounds scary, yes but lets face it:
- How am I going to achieve my goals?
- When do I want to reach my targets?
- Where will my business be in six months time?
- Why do I want to be at that point?
Make it simple, you are running a business, and having a plan is important to your success. Now lets look at a scenario for a minute, you are working for a company, when pay day arrive, you expect to get paid, right? Well, that’s why the company owner need a business plan to ensure that you get paid on time.

(2) Business Objectives
What are your business objectives?
I bet you haven’t thought about this, lets look at the definition of Business Objectives as defined by Wikipedia…
“Strategic planning is an organization’s process of defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue”
There you have it. I can tell you this from experience not having an Objective for your business is disaster waiting to happen.
In Summary
Starting a blog or any form of business for that matter needs a business plan.
Plan what you are going to do, how you are going to do it, where and set a time to make it happening so you can measure your success. Set out your objectives and review them after a period of time, make the necessary adjustments you need to grow your business, after that the challenge is over!

Great post. Everything requires planning and so blogging too. Been myself into blogging for quite long, I must say that if you are really serious about your blogging then please have a plan first on what to do and how to do. And rest all must be what this guest post says.

Indeed, having a business plan before doing anything, is really important. You should always have a long term strategy and know where you are getting at, if you want to reach success.

thanks for your comment and input without a plan we won’t be able to asses what is working and what is not and which direction we are going.

Solid advice. I’ve definitely been lazy about this. It’s actually kinda critical to at least think about these things, if we ever want to get anywhere in the long run. I don’t know that we could create a solid marketing plan without first thinking through the business plan.
Thanks!

Thats is so right i would not say lazy but sometimes we can become complacent thanks for sharing.

While I don’t advise this for everyone, what works best for me is a loose plan. Very little is “set in stone” as they say.
This allows me to immediately implement those “light bulb moment” ideas, instead of having to rework some paper plan for a month first.

I totally agree of it. A business plan is a must if we want to drive our business into success. However, for that success, just plan is not enough, we must do hard work to run that plan in proper way.

Blog business objective!
I truly love that. I think knowing your business objective will definitely guide you on what you do with your blog. Your content, how you present it, how you serve it to your readers and every other thing you do on your blog need be driven by your business objective or just call it your blog objective!
Great article.

i miss a very important aspect in ‘your’ businessplan … the finance side of it, what are you willing to invest, how are you going to invest … what ROI’s is acceptable for you. what is your budget for advertising … etc etc etc
did you know that you can have an ad running for 1 cent per click, even if you are not selling anything you can get visitors for 1 cent … and if they come back, or promote your website elsewhere that 1 cent will be paid back double, or three times
.-= NEW from wannabe´s last blog ..How To Get Much More Sex In Your Marriage =-.
Hi Wannabe the financial side is always included in the business plan this should also includes your advertising budget however thanks for your input it is much appreciated.

I usually draw a mini-business-plan for smaller projects, just to see if they make sense (as in, will they make a profit). With the big picture, it just keeps shifting too quickly to warrant a long-term plan.
.-= NEW from Anne´s last blog ..Blogging about Blogging =-.
Anne you could say that your plan was to test smaller projects which worked that means you not only had a plan but you also put that plan in motion.

We have had several businesses over the years and have never had a business plan. We have also been relatively successful with each of them, however, I know if we were to plan more, we would do more.

I think plans can be helpful for us to prioritise.
The problem is that sometimes we can plan too early – and set off in the wrong direction.
I also think it is important to review and change our plans.
You are right Evan sometimes we move too fast that means we by pass the “How” in the plan thanks for sharing
.-= NEW from lawmacs´s last blog ..Monthly Round Up From The Web =-.
I like to give myself short and long-term goals. Long-term for the obvious reason. Short-term because without these goals, I would procrastinate and get nowhere. Great post, Gary!

.-= NEW from lawmacs´s last blog ..Monthly Round Up From The Web =-.
Yup! Thats 200% true and no one can (or should) deny it. You want to get to the top, you got to have a plan. Planning can be both simple and complex but it is always needed.

That is right there is an old saying that if you fail to plan you plan to fail having a plan is very important when running a business. without this you are doomed to fail by the way i realize this is my 200 comments here. Thanks for your support
.-= NEW from lawmacs´s last blog ..Monthly Round Up From The Web =-.
Sound advice Gary. Rushing into a business without creating a plan is like jumping into the deep end without being able to swim. You might survive with the help of others but only after lots of flailing and struggling.
Creating a business plan creates order in the mind. An orderly mind is more efficient and is better able to deal with the ups and downs of running your own business.
Thanks Ryan i like your terminology we definately needs a plan and it is vital we do this whenever we are about to start any business
