If you do get to the point of you are sitting in front of your computer and you have nothing, not even the title of a blog post, then what should you do, well the first thing you should do is turn your computer off and go and do something else.

So there you are spending every waking moment on your blog, searching through the mass of information sites trying to find something interesting to blog about, even setting up search terms via TweetDeck for your twitter to see what’s going on.

But you ever take the time out and think to yourself that you could seriously get “blogger burnout” a point where you can sit in front of your computer and your blog posts are just erratic post or your blogging skills just start to go that lackluster that you stop posting for weeks at a time.

This has probably happened to a lot of bloggers, specially those that have been blogging for a short time and just do nothing but blog!

If you do get to the point of you are sitting in front of your computer and you have nothing, not even the title of a blog post, then what should you do, well the first thing you should do is turn your computer off and go and do something else.

Find some Blogging Inspiration

Go out for a walk, call a friend or family member, read a book, watch a bit of TV, it’s all up to you what you do, but staying away from the computer will really help, not only will it relax you and let your mind roam for a while, but you may even find some blogging inspiration from what you are doing, but, and this is a big but, as soon as you get that inspiration back, DO NOT sit in front of your computer straight a way, this is a major no, no.

Instead always have a small notepad and pencil with you and jot down your ideas and work from them, this way you may see something else even more inspiring for you to blog about and even something that will turn into that elusive blogging materpiece

You don’t need to be in front of a computer all the time to blog and inspiration will come from the world around you rather that the world in a box through a phone line..

So, what do you do to get that inspiration if you get “blogger burnout“?

Now there comes a time when all bloggers do have a tendency to get that dreaded Blogger Block, where you just can’t think of what to blog about and every time you sit down to blog, you sit staring at the keyboard with nothing but blank thoughts!

I had this same problem sometime back and last year I decided that I would do some interesting on my blog on a daily basis, not only would I post like I normally do and also post article from my guest bloggers, but I would also do a Photo A Day which seems to be very popular at the moment.

Most of us these days have a digital camera and doing a Photo A Day is a great way to improve your photography skills as well as a lot of your blog readers find these sort of posts very interesting, also the search engines love a blog that updates on a regular basis, so you are befitting in several ways.

Just remember to take your camera out with you everywhere you go, you will be surprised by the amount of things that you can see that jump out and say “photo opportunity”, take photos of anything and everything, if you are out having a meal and trying something you haven’t eaten before, take a photo of it and then post it on your blog letting everyone know what you thought of the meal. The skies the limit and in time you will find that photographs will get better and you will see things you’ve never really noticed previously.

There are several ways of uploading your photos on to the internet, I personally use Flickr and have a “set” which is for my Photo A Day pictures, I than have a Flickr widget on the blog for up to date Photos and I also blog about the picture on the blog.

So this is just one way to improve your daily blogging, from experience I have found that my readers are enjoying my Photo A Day posts.

Now I wouldn’t say I’m the worlds best with my grammar and do take the time to check through my posts with a spell checker and a hopefully find that they are grammatically correct or at least to a standard where they can be understood.

But where do you stop, you could possibly go on forever trying to make your blog posts to a standard which is beyond your reader, you don’t really want to be blasting out something to your readers that only a graduate of quantum mechanics would understand nor would you want to write your blog post as a five-year old!

But there does come a time when you need to balance out your posts with simple to understand phrases and correct grammar, OK, if your English isn’t that good then you can easily be forgiven, but to blatantly type posts out with umpteen spelling mistakes can make you look bad when it comes to your blog posts and usually these are the first things that people pick up on, I have also heard that search engines also rate blogs slightly better if the spelling and grammar is correct.

So what is the point of this post and why am I rambling on, well, to put it simply, it’s a bit of advise to those that maybe starting to blog or have blogged for a while and just type up an article and post it without checking it first.

It’s a simple rule of thumb; before you post on your blog, make sure you have checked your spelling and read through your post so that it makes sense to you.

If you are using WordPress then use the spell check option in the post editor, if you don’t have a spell checker then type your article into a word processor and use the spell checker there, some even come with a grammar checker so use that as well, this will certainly help your posts look more professional and help your readers read your posts with ease without trying to decode those terrible spelling mistakes etc.

There may be many reasons you may want to have your own Search Engine these could be from wanting to be able to allow your blogs readers to have a search of your site with your settings or even you may want to have your own custom search engine that will search a collection of sites of your choice.

As an example, I have both on my blog and one the “Bloggers Search Engine” uses a list of DoFollow and CommentLuv blogs that I am building up and adding over time.

One option for creating your search engine is to utilize the Google Custom Search Engine, not only will this allow you to create your search engine but it will also combine with your Google AdSense, so earning you a little from your new engine.

Setting up a Search Engine this way is quite simple, once you have signed in with your Google details; you are ready to build your new search engine.

How To Build Your Own Custom Search Engine?

Create your Search Engine and give it a name, description and the sites you wish to search (these can be edited later).

In your control panel you can now add or remove sites when you wish, simply by adding the address of the chosen site.

Change the look and feel of your new engine and preview it.

Add the code to your website/blog and there you go.

Most of the instructions for updating your new Search Engine are very simple to use, an option which I would recommend using is the option of “Make Money” this will connect your AdSense account to you engine, giving you the possibility of making a little extra on the side from Google Ads on the search Engine results. It won’t make you mega rich, but every little helps.

So, if you want to build your own Search Engine then this is certainly a good method of doing it, it certainly works on my blog and fits in seamlessly with the pages etc.
