Are you welling to Continue Participating in SponsoredReviews after Increase of Transaction Rate

by on January 13, 2010 · 24 comments

If you are using SponsoredReviews service, then maybe you will not be happy with the new change in the transaction rate of their paid reviews system, the transaction rate has been increased by 15% from 35% to 50%, which means you share is not 65% of the review payment, it’s now (50% versus 50%). SponsoredReviews claimed that this increase in the transaction rate is to allow them to expand the functionality of their software as well as grow marketing and sales efforts in order to increase the number of opportunities available to bloggers.

For Bloggers

The increase will take effect on January 13th, 2010. This increase will not affect previously made bids, your previous bids will continue to pay 65%.

This is a notice I received by email from SponsoredReviews through their newsletter, they are asking all bloggers members (If necessary) to make any required adjustments to your blog prices and new bids in order to compensate for the increased transaction fees.

For Advertisers

From the other side SponsoredReviews advertisers is given a 20% discount as encouragement to make bulk purchases, the plan is to have a large effect on the number of paying opportunities available to all bloggers.

So.. after you heard this news, what do you think of this change in transaction rate?

Are you welling to continue participating in SponsoredReviews system?

I registered a couple of years ago but never done any sponsored reviews from them yet. I’m in love with SocialSpark

I will definitely consider parting with SponsoredReviews.com after this. Since I run a professional with a Google PR5 and an Alexa rank of 104K, my standard rate is $50 (I’ve never written a paid post for anything less), and while I can accept a 65/35 split, 50/50 is just too much. Soon I will have to increase my rate to $100 to make any money on this.

I’m not sure how this will increase the number of opportunities available. Recently there has been a huge increase in $5 opportunities, but who wants to blog for some lousy $2.50? On the other hand, good and well-paid opportunities are in steady decline, albeit that could be the recession setting in…but isn’t that the time when you really need advertising?

I think you can with a PR5 blog get from $50 up to $100 opportunities some times! my blog that I am talking about is PR2 now, and I have just received 2 opportunities of $50 means I will get paid $25 for each which is acceptable for a PR2 blog.

mmm.. by the way I think you should try inlinks, they are great. Good luck.

You need at leas PR of 1 for your blog to be accepted, I suggest you work hard on your blog to get a at least PR of 3 and you will rock on the money world!

Fifty fifty if it is fair or not my opinion is that it is up to the bloggers that are using the service to decide on that but to improve thier software is that the real reasons or is it that they are been buckled by the credit crunch

Well, it’s fair if they will increase the price or reviews, and not fair to write 200 words up to 300 for $5 !

Changes due to new FTC guidelines?

But I will say that it annoys me that a service will come out at a low price, then build a following.. then once they are set, they change the service to a lesser quality and charge more.

I also received this news in my email and just delete it because i am already not using sponsored review service for long time.

Btw, i think 50% fair enough as long as they can deliver more job.

Thanks for your opinion! I think it’s fair as well, but I just don’t go for the cheap reviews, and they still have this $5 thing!

Should a solution be cheap or should it solve an issue?

I think the results should be focused then the effort steps in the background.

I don’t have an account with SponsoredReviews but now I’ve read about it in your article I might give it a shot.

Not sure if their rates is okay for us bloggers because I never tried any sponsored reviews yet.
